Local Pickup in Mississauga
I've confirmed our pickup location for our Mississauga backers. If you chose Mississauga pickup, we've partnered with an amazing escape room place that I highly recommend. This is where you can grab your copies of Draconis Invasion, when the time comes:
That's all for today. Enjoy the PNP! It was my first time putting one together. Lemme know your thoughts. Also, to all my Canadian friends, have a great Victoria Day Long Weekend!

Good News & Bad News
Bad news first: I was really hoping that this game would be a Kickstarter campaign that delivered on the correct date. However, I'm really sorry to tell you that Draconis Invasion will not be ready to ship this month.
Good news: Despite several setbacks, we can still have games to our backers this summer. I have confirmed shipping for late July. Although our retail version will arrive by sea freight, we will air ship the Kickstarter copies so that you'll get yours in your hands asap.
I am very thankful for all your support. You allow our team to make games and bring ideas to life. This is my second Kickstarter campaign and I am learning many lessons throughout this process. I hope this update is not too devastating. Thanks for your understanding.
Print & Play
Some eager backers have been messaging me about a "Print & Play" version. I am currently working on this request and I'll post the files, plus the new rule book, in an update next week.
Print & Play - coming next week
Lessons Learned So Far
In light of this delivery delay, inspired by the wonderful Jamey Stegmaier, I wanted to share some of the lessons I've been learning, in hopes that maybe other new game developers may gain insights from my mistakes. I've been told that most Kickstarters experience both small and large setbacks, but I really didn't want Draconis Invasion to be one of those. I truly hoped things would have somehow come together faster and smoother. For the sake of transparency and communication, here are the 3 main factors that played into this 2 month delay.
1) I underestimated the time it takes the write game rules
Several months ago, I had a freelance writer helping me with the rule book, figuring that a professional would make the rules more clear and concise. Plus, it would free me up more to work on the specs/art. Unfortunately, that writer didn't do their job very well. Weeks and weeks were wasted and I had to start over, writing and rewriting drafts. I only recently finalized the rules. A shout-out to the awesome friends who helped me with the edits. Thanks guys.
2) I did not fully appreciate the complexity of specs/art for our multiple Stretch Goals, Add-ons, and Pledge Levels
When I looked at the full list of extra components and extra cards that were added to the game's core retail version, my brain exploded. It was an epic challenge putting together the final factory specs/art for dice, playmats, box designs, artbooks, separators, and 700+ cards for the 1398 backers. I was lucky to have a wonderful team helping me out, but this element took far longer than expected.
3) I kept making tweaks
It's really easy to get tunnel vision when working on a game. I needed to be constantly reminded that the game is fun the way it is and production had to move forward. I was retweaking the rules and cards, feeling good about each small fix because it improved the game. The game really hasn't changed much from the 2015 version, but I kept wanting to make tweaks. I should have set an earlier date where nothing is allowed to change anymore.
Playing a very early version of Draconis Invasion with my cousin in 2015
Thank you again for your continued patience. I will be sending many more updates on production progress in the coming weeks.
Sincerely
- Jeff

Last Day is May 9
The “last” day to make final updates to your Draconis Invasion order is May 9th. After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders. You will still be able to update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping fulfillment.
For backers who have not answered their surveys yet:
If you fill out your BackerKit survey or pay for extra shipping after the order due date, we will still receive your information, but your shipment may be delayed.
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can request your survey at draconis-invasion-the-dark-fantasy-deck-building-g.backerkit.com
Thank you all for being so responsive to answering our BackerKit survey—even though it may not seem like much as an individual backer, you have no idea how tremendously helpful this has been for me when trying to keep track of all 1398 of you!
Thanks everyone for your support!
Core Components Update
All the core game boxes of Draconis Invasion will be including a blue Terror Die with numbers and skull engraved.
The game will also include a helpful Turn Overview card for easy reference for playing and setting up.
Every copy of Draconis Invasion will also include larger card separators to make your 500+ cards easier to organize.
That's all our updates for now!
Cheers,
- The Draconis Invasion Team

Future Game... with Miniatures?
As we work hard on the delivery of Draconis Invasion, some other ideas are coming to life on the side. One of them involves some amazing artwork by... of course... Manthos Lappas. Rumor has it that the upcoming game will involve some miniatures :) Here is a very early look at our "Hunter" robot progress.

As many of you may know, the Backerkit Survey has been sent out. There are several questions I'm getting, but the one I want to answer first is about LOCAL PICKUP (in the Toronto area). Thanks to BACKERKIT for their excellent technical support!
